Karla Starr

About Me

~ The best of things are worth waiting for, and God's timing is always perfect. ~
Born in Washington state and she grew up in Gardner, KS. Karla began writing songs at the age of 5 and received her first guitar on that same Christmas. Along with a microphone speaker box and that's when her performing and "rocking out" really began! By the age of 12, Karla really started to pay attention to who wrote the songs she liked best and the music producers of those albums. She began to think about without songs, what would artists sing? And great producers hear minute changes that enhance the music we all listen to and enjoy everyday and everywhere. Karla began performing at local opry shows at 16 and then started her own band at 17, Karla & The Wings of Country, where she played local bars and nightclubs and parties. She started working on the road at age 20. She has since opened for national and international acts.

Today, she has a song catalog of about 1500 original songs. Karla started her publishing company, Purple Tiger Publishing, Inc. She even created the Purple Tiger logo. Karla Starr is also an artist. She enjoys drawing, etching, painting, jewelry making and working with ceramics.

Sometimes there are unexpected set-backs. So is the case with Karla's story. After suffering, healing, overcoming and finally conquering many aspects of a brain injury. Which resulted from an automobile accident that occurred in April of 2003. But, she is back on track and has never quit trying to work through changes that involved many challenges.
Since Karla's journey with music began, she loved many types of music and artists.
